Tucked away on a 4,000 m² forest plot above the valley near Houffalize, Le Refuge des Crêtes is a holiday chalet for those who want to truly switch off. Built in 1934 from old timber and local stone, it deliberately does without fast Wi-Fi and home automation. Here the days follow the crackle of the wood stove, the silence of the valley and the hiking trails that begin right at the garden.

The heart of the chalet is the living room, where a deep leather sofa faces the wood stove in its stone surround — firewood is included. The kitchen-diner, with its old-style range cooker, invites long, convivial meals after a day outdoors. The single bathroom features a copper freestanding bath set beneath the window, perfect for warming up after a winter walk.

Upstairs under the eaves, the attic bedrooms create a cosy, cocoon-like feel: a romantic master bedroom with an iron bed and a four-bed bunk dormitory that children (and nostalgic friends) adore. In total the chalet offers 3 bedrooms and 5 beds for up to 8 guests, made up with linen sheets and wool blankets. Outside, the large terrace looks out over the valley, where deer often appear at breakfast.

The rate is € 185 / night plus a cleaning fee of € 65, with a 10% discount for a full week. Pets are welcome; please note the plot is not fenced, as this is real forest. Free parking is available on site, reached via a dirt track (a 4x4 is advised in winter), and local hiking maps are provided. Ideal for families or groups of friends seeking nature and quiet. Bookings through RE-BROKERZ.
